While Fortnite continues to grow in popularity, when Epic Games announced that it will bring the game to the mobile platform earlier this month, there is much curiosity about how well the title will be translated to a handheld device.
Part of the curiosity associated with graphics - how well can smartphones and tablets create game displays designed for machines with better graphics capabilities?
Now many people play games on iOS devices through closed beta programs and special invites, we start to feel how the iPhone specifically handles titles. Apparently, it's pretty good, if you have an iPhone X at least.
People at DigitalFoundry took the opportunity to complain iPhone X and Xbox One X against each other, with Fortnite running on what ever the most powerful game console ever released. With that in mind, you'll be forgiven for expecting this to be a one-sided battle, but with iPhone X being your own powerhouse, that's not entirely the case.
Epic Games may have pushed for updates to the arrival of Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro, in this case, but it's pretty amazing how close the iPhone X is able to follow the images created by the Microsoft console. The difference is certainly there, especially when both device outputs are viewed side by side, but you have to admire what the iPhone can do.
Check out your DigitalFoundry video for yourself and see what you think. Of course there is one weakness in the iPhone X that Xbox One X does not have to face - not many 4K TVs are sold today with big notch missing from above.
A cheap shot, I know.
